We’re here with Soren, who is currently recovering from ACL surgery. Our focus is ensuring optimal knee function by checking his hips. To begin, let’s rotate to the left and observe the full rotation of his lead shoulder. Then, we’ll rotate to the right and note any differences. Moving on, we’ll assess Soren’s ability to squat, making sure he can fully squat down and regain balance without any issues.

Next, we’ll test his hip rotation in both flexed and extended positions. Although Soren already has a decent range of motion, we aim to improve his overall process on the right side to alleviate knee stress and enhance his overall range of motion.

To help Soren improve his hip mobility, we’ll be using a strap during his exercises. First, we’ll bend his knee and loop the strap around him and me. By gently distracting it and dropping it into the backside of the hip, we’ll stretch it out, facilitating smoother movement for Soren.

Afterward, we’ll move on to an exercise he can perform at home. He’ll kick his leg back and cross his foot over while maintaining a straight spine. By dropping back into my finger, he’ll feel a stretch in the backside of his hip. Then, he’ll press his knee into the ground to raise himself back up, engaging the targeted area of his hip.

Following the mobility work, we’ll evaluate Soren’s range of motion by having him rotate his foot outward. He should notice an increased control over his range of motion, and we’ll work on his ability to control it in various positions. Ultimately, Soren will achieve greater hip mobility, making his daily tasks easier.

In this video, our focus is on improving hip mobility and enhancing the brain’s ability to access a new range of motion. We’ll isolate the movement solely to the hip without involving any pelvic motion. Additionally, we’ll challenge the trunk to engage and fully experience the hip movement throughout its range. Finally, we’ll transition to hands and knees to further isolate the hip movement and test the brain’s ability to control internal rotation. Let’s begin!
