
DR. BRUCE BALCITA
Dr. Bruce Balcita grew up in Myrtle Creek, OR. Involved in athletics from an early age, he competed in cross country, football, wrestling, and track & field. He continued with wrestling at the Division III NCAA level for Pacific University where he was a 4-year starter, 3-year captain, and twice was honored as an NWCA Scholar All-American.
Dr. Balcita’s passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine was inspired by a knee injury his senior year of high school. Through the assist of rehabilitation, he was able to continue his career into the NCAA Division III level and 2 years as an assistant wrestling coach at Pacific University. It was as a college athlete that he worked closely with the athletic training and sports medicine department to grow his passion for conservative management to pain and improvement of function.
Dr. Balcita’s approach to rehabilitation is to individualize care to each person he works with. He works with patients to not only reduce pain but improve function and allow patients to reach their full potential. His main goal as a clinician is to restore resiliency and facilitate recovery that will help patients reach their goals. He utilizes a multitude of techniques including manual therapy, corrective exercise, and performance-based exercises. He has specialty training in Olympic weightlifting and barbell sports through the Institute of Clinical Excellence. His career has led to working with many patients experiencing pain and dysfunction ranging from athletes, pre-operative, post-operative, acute pain, persistent pain, youth, elderly, and everything in between.
When not working, Dr. Balcita enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelsey and daughter, Lily. Additionally, he spends time coaching youth wrestlers, advising on the alumni board for the Pacific University wrestling team, spending time outdoors, and exercising.
