Project Description
Dr. Kjell Thorsen, PT, DPT
Growing up in Grants Pass, Dr. Kjell Thorsen was immersed in athletics and conservative musculoskeletal medicine from an early age. He was a four-sport athlete most of his youth until focusing on wrestling at the high school and collegiate levels, competing at the state and national level wrestling for Grants High School, then continuing with his wrestling career at Oregon State University.
Physical therapy and chiropractic care were essential to helping him achieve his goals. Being involved in conservative musculoskeletal medicine throughout his athletic career inspired his passion for helping individuals proactively treat musculoskeletal injuries and reach their performance goals.
Dr. Thorsen graduated with distinction from Pacific University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and has a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Physical Therapy/Exercise and Sports Science from Southern Oregon University. His areas of specialty include manual therapy, manipulation, and rehabilitative strength and mobility exercise.
Dr. Thorsen believes that physical therapy does not only include exercise-based rehab, but also includes manual therapy techniques, including massage and manipulation, to help patients return to pre-injury levels in a quicker and more effective manner. With a holistic approach to care, Dr. Thorsen strives to help patients individually reach their goals and learn how to take charge of their own health.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Thorsen enjoys spending time with his wife, Katy, daughter, Lucy, and son, Bjorn. He can also be found exploring the beautiful outdoors of southern Oregon, hiking, mountain biking, rafting, snowboarding, and more.
